Khelang nakhon Town Municipality Collaborates with Papop Solar to Sign MOU for Alternative Energy Project
On February 13, 2025, at 10:00 AM, Mr. Paitoon Phothong, Mayor of Khelang Nakhon Town Municipality, participated in the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Renewable Energy Power Management and Alternative Energy Power Generation Project with Mr. Anurak Pinrattana, Managing Director of Papop Solar Co., Ltd. The MOU outlines cooperation between The Khelang Nakhon Town Municipality and Papop Solar Co., Ltd. for the project, held at Khelang Nakhon Meeting Room, 3rd floor, Khelang Nakhon Town Municipality Office. The ceremony was witnessed by municipal executives, council members, and heads of government departments.
To promote and develop appropriate and efficient renewable energy technology in line with government policies, the municipality has been working towards reducing electricity consumption in accordance with the Cabinet resolution from March 22, 2022, which mandates a 20% reduction in energy use for all government agencies. The municipality has established a committee to drive the city's energy-saving initiatives. The municipality has already implemented several energy-saving projects, including solar-powered water pumps and replacing streetlights with solar-powered lights. Additionally, they plan to install solar power generation systems.
In terms of the office building, the municipality has signed a cooperation agreement with Papop Solar Co., Ltd. to install a rooftop solar energy system (Solar Rooftop) at the office, which is expected to reduce electricity consumption by at least 10-15%. This makes Khelang Nakhon Town Municipality, the first local administrative organization to be a model for energy management collaboration, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This project aligns with the principles of the Bio-Circular-Green Economy (BCG Economy Model) and Green Economy, focusing on environmental sustainability, reducing global warming, and supporting sustainable development for the benefit of the community.
